JAYAPURA (PAPUA POST) – The Criminal Research Section of the Papuan Police Headquarters has called Leader of Papuan Customary Council, Forkorus Yaboisembut to be questioned as a witness of the subversive incident which happened on the 9th of August 2008 in Wamena. Before this investigation, on Monday (27th October 2008), Forkorus and Leonard Imbiri, secretary of the Papuan Customary Council were interrogated at the Papua Police headquarters. The other person being interrogated on the same day was Buchtar Tabuni, Chairman of the Committee of International Parliamentarians for West Papua (who is responsible for West Papua region). Buchtar was interrogated as a witness of massive demonstration (celebrating the launch of International Parliamentarians for West Papua) in Expo Waena, Jayapura-West Papua.

During the police interrogation, Forkorus Yaboisembut, Leonard Imbiri, Buchtar Tabuni were accompanied by lawyers (Latifah Anum Siregar, Iwan Niode, Hulda Buara, and Rizal).

The head of community section of the Papua Police headquarters, Drs Agus Rianto told Papua Post on Tuesday (28/10) that Forkorus will be questioned again on Wednesday (today). However, Leonard Imbiri and Buchtar Tabuni are not questioned.

The questioning of Forkorus is related to subversive accusations which related to an incident that happened in Wamena on the 9th of August 2008 (celebration of the world international indigenous day in Wamena) and the gathering of massive people on the 16th of October 2008 (celebrating the launch of International Parliamentarians fo West Papua which took place in London).

In this questioning, Forkorus’ status was still as a witness. He has not been sentenced as the accused. A conclusion will be made when there is enough evidence.

The police decided that the questioning of Leonard Imbiri and Buchtar Tabuni is enough. However, that does not mean that they will not be questioned again.

At the moment, the police only questioned them as witness.

The police has until today questioned 20 civilians who have given information about the incident of 9th August 2008 incident in Wamena.

However, the police has not accused anyone responsible for the incident. The police also has not found any evidence to prove the subversive action (Reported by Feri).
