Police shoot dead one Papuan, wound three

A resident of Enarotali town in the Papuan regency of Paniai was killed and three others injured Tuesday after officers from the police’s Mobile Brigade opened fire on them.

Head of the Paniai Customary Institute, John Gobay, said Mica Boma, 58, suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen in the incident, which took place at 10:30 a.m. local time.

“We demand the withdrawal of the Mobile Brigade from Paniai,” he added.
