ARRESTED: Sebi Sembom was taken away by the regional police of Papua to the Papua Police headquarter.

JAYAPURA (PAPOS) –
After the arrest of Buchtar Tabuni (Committee chairman of the International Parliamentarians for West Papua in Papua) was arrested with subversive charges, now Sebby Sembom (one of the committee member for the launch of International parliamentarians for West Papua in Papua) was arrested by criminal unit of the Papua regional police. Sebby was arrested at Theys Eluay Memorial park on Thursday (17/12) after giving a press conference demanding the release of Buchtar Tabuni from Papua police custody.

Sebby Sembom was taken to the police headquarter at 12.45. Arrived at 13.20 Sebby Sembom was immediately taken to criminal research unit for questioning. He was questioned for more than 4 hours.

Sebby’s investigation was closed to the public. The police refused to give any information to the media. However, according to Sebby’s lawyers, Iwan Niode and Latifah Anum Siregar, Sebby was accused for his involvement in the 16th October demonstration in support of the launch of International parliamentarians for West Papua . The demonstration took place in front of Cenderawasih University and Ex-Expo Waena.

Iwan said, ‘”Sebby’s arrest was related to his involvement in supporting the launch of International Parliamentarians for West Papua in London-England, he particularly made speeches during the day of the demonstration”.

Iwan added that the criminal section of Papua police was crosschecking information regarding Sebby’s speech. In his speech in Waena demonstration Sebby asked a review of the Act of Free Choice (1969 Act of Free Choice).

According to Iwan, Sebby was asked 17 questions. The questions were about his involvement in the committee that support the launch of International Parliamentarians for West Papua .
